The Saskatchewan component of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has released a statement regarding Haanim Nur.

The statement can be found at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_M0_U8MnB3GaHVlT0p3NnVoR0E/edit?pli=1

Nur, who was elected as the president of the University of Regina Students' Union last winter semester, resigned soon after.

In The Carillon's recent issue, Nur revealed she had stolen funds from the provincial component of CFS.

"You hear rumours of other student union people being able to – I shouldn't say the term loosely – but getting away with stealing funds. I know it was a stupid thing to do, and it was the dumbest thing I've ever done," she said.

Something doesn't add up. Why the news release now? Why not months ago when the cheques were written and they supposedly took swift action to reconcile it? And why won't they press charges?

So the Saskatchewan Chapter of the CFS claims they are the only ones who can determine whether or not to press charges? Its the student body's money that was stolen! The student body should be the one's deteremining whether or not to press charges. The people at CFS are bunch of corrupt, power hungry idiots who think they should be authorized to make decisions on everyone's behalf. Oh why didn't we get rid of them in 2010?…oh yeah the referendum oversight committee ran a campaign on par with elections in Zimbabwe. How many months was it again before we saw the results, like 5? Thanks for turning our student government into Russia, Kent "Chavez" Peterson.
